AMT Configure is FreeWare. We do expect all those that use it to send us a postcard as described in the “About Box”. IE has put out several utilities of general use and our only request of payment has been that users send us a picture postcard of their hometown (or where they are currently living). It is shameful just how few postcards we have received. I thank those that have sent in their cards. It is a wonderful way to travel the world. Receipt of the postcards will insure that we continue to supply helpful utilities for free.
“AMT Configure” is a utility that is designed to help you use the “Apple Modem Tool”.
It allows you to add, delete and edit modem definitions.
Please Note the Following Warnings!
AMT Configure can only be used with versions 1.0.n of the Apple Modem Tool (where ‘n’ is some number..usually a 0, 1 or 2).
AMT Configure modifies the resources of the Apple Modem Tool. It you are running certain Virus checkers, they may complain or interfere in the operation of the utility.
Always keep an unmodified copy of the Apple Modem Tool as a backup.
AMT Configure is not authorized or supported by Apple Computer. Do not complain to them if you have problems using it. The resources that are used to store modem definitions are considered internal ones and the format of them is not disclosed outside of Apple. AMTC is a best guest at figuring out what those resources mean.
The checkbox in the “EDIT” dialog will remain grayed out until some more options in the resources can be deciphered.
Because we are releasing this as a free utility we will not provide technical support for it. We will try to respond to questions submitted by e-mail that are related to the utility itself but not to answer questions about modems. We could not afford to take on that kind of support roll without charging real money for this utility. I hope you understand.
There will be future versions of this utility to handle future versions of the Apple Modem Tool as long as it is possible and necessary.
Instructions:
The use of AMT Configure is fairly straightforward. Use it to open a copy of the “Apple Modem Tool” and then you will see a scrolling list of modem definition names. Click ADD to add your own, Highlite one and Click EDIT to change one, or REMOVE to delete a definition. You will not be allowed to remove modem definitions that occupy slots that were distributed with the apple modem tool.
If you are running System 7...AMTC is System 7 compatible and supports Balloon Help.
Our Thanks to Mark H. Anbinder for the nice color icon family. Thanks Mark!
